Measuring the speed of sound

An interactive animation illustrating an experiment to measure the speed of sound. An anvil is struck by a hammer and the sound detected at two points. A stopwatch displays the time taken for the sound to travel between the detectors. Drag the second detector to vary the distance travelled.
