Sound waves: fast-moving plane

Added by David Fairhurst on Feb 6, 2008

An interactive animation showing the sound waves emitted by a fast-moving plane. Waves propagate out from the plane in a cone as the plane overtakes the sound waves. The sound waves build up, constructively interfering to create a sonic boom.
